RED DEER COLLEGE RESIDENCE

City: Red Deer, AB.
Branch: Allmar Red Deer

The $19 million latest addition to Red Deer College’s campus is a LEED ceritified heavy timber-framed student residence with 145 units, reception, communal kitchen, laundry facilities and lounges. The studio suite design combines the privacy of independent living with the socializing and collaboration of a Residence environment. The addition includes 145 studio suites, including 10 barrier-free suites, each with a self-contained kitchen and bathroom complete with a shower. The bright, five-story central atrium is at the heart of the building, and there are spaces throughout that will allow students to connect, socialize and study as they live and learn together. The first to stay in the new residence were the athletes for the Red Deer 2019 Canada Winter Games.  The Red Deer College Student Residence is part of RDC’s integrated Alternatives Energy Program. Manasc Isaac Architects was awarded the Canadian Wood Council Award (2019) for this project.
